Have you visited this exhibit in Idaho Falls?
I highly recommend it. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston organized it.
Regarded as living Gods, the pharaohs of ancient Egypt were adorned with the finest treasures of antiquity. Today, more than 200 of those treasures are on display at the Museum of Idaho, Idaho Falls.
During the days of the prophet Isaiah, Judah thought it best to trust the Egyptian empire rather than God.
Wrong answer! (Ha! Even the bloodthirsty Assyrians in the Isaianic historical interlude told Hezekiah and his people not to trust the Egyptians.)
In the museum, check out the Egyptian gold amulet of Harsaphes (Heryshef). It is a ram-headed local deity of the city Herakleopolis. (740 – 725 B.C.)
And who sovereignly rules today? the Holy One of Israel or Harsaphes of Herakleopis?
To God alone be the glory in Idaho!
(See what I learn when I take my son on school research projects . . . Don’t ever put your trust in a god who depends upon breathe in his nostrils like you. The prophet Isaiah will tell you this.)
