The God Upon Whom We Can Depend — Psalm 117:1-2
As a nation, we are entering into the Thanksgiving season. However, we
should not just limit our praise of God to a certain time of year.
Praising God should be a daily part of our lives. Psalm 117:1-2 tells
us, “O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For
his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD
endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.” This short Psalm has a very
powerful message for us. It tells us that we are to praise the Lord, but
it also tells us why. We should praise the Lord because of His mercy and
love toward us, and we should praise the Lord because we can count on
Him. Everything that we read in the Bible has or will come true because
God said it. Visit the Victor Bible Study and learn of the God upon whom
you can depend.
The Joy of Being Content in the Lord — Philippians 4:11
Society teaches us to be always looking for the next new thing. This
pursuit of the next new thing is one of the primary reasons people fail
to see their need for God. It is also why so many people do not have joy
in their lives. Paul says in Philippians 4:11, “Not that I speak in
respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith
to be content.” Paul wrote this even though he has spent time in prison,
as well as suffering other persecution, for preaching the Bible. We
must never think that this was an easy attitude for Paul. He tells us
himself that he had to learn to be content. Contentment begins with
being thankful to God for who He is and for what He has done for us.
Contentment produces joy in the Lord. Have you learned as Paul did, to
be content?
God Truly Cares for You — Psalm 139:14
People today have many differing ideas of who God is and His role in our
daily lives. In Psalm 139:14, the Bible gives us a glimpse of how much
God cares for each of us, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth
right well.” This verse reminds us that God made us, and that His works,
or His care for us, is even greater than we could imagine. While this is
a tremendous thought, it also comes with a responsibility. First, we are
to praise the Lord, and then we are to follow the leading of the Lord in
our lives. God created us with a conscience, so we do know right from
wrong. However, we choose daily whether we will do what is right. God
gave us our lives and all that we have, but what do give back to Him?
