An invitation for you
The day after our national elections in America, I began a study in the largest of biblical books – Jeremiah. One of the sisters in the B.B.C. church family commented, “When you read this book, it is like opening the daily newspaper.” The turbulent events of Jeremiah’s day were global. The spiritual declension in his country was ongoing. He preached. He prayed. And he wept.
The people were apathetic. External. Superficial. Hypocritical. Spiritually immoral in their relationship with God. The times were desperate.
We are asking you to set aside these three days to focus on humility, brokenness, and repentance before our God. Charles Feinberg once wrote on Jeremiah 3:3, “Natural providences that were meant to bring the nation to repentance were without success.”
Hmmm . . . How are we doing as the people of God in America?
Join us. It is the beginning of the new year. It is the right time to break up the fallow ground with the deep plow of repentance and obedience. We must turn our hearts back toward our God. There is no other path for true healing and real joy. To Him be all glory.

*For all main sessions, we are planning nursery and children’s classes.
*Housing in homes is available.
*No financial cost for the conference. But we are asking you to submit every area of your heart in humble repentance and obedience to the high Lordship of Jesus Christ. The spiritual cost is that you must die to self.
“Come for repentance, if you cannot come repenting. Come for a broken heart, if you cannot come with a broken heart. Come to be melted, if you are not melted. Come to be wounded, if you are not wounded.” - Charles Spurgeon, The Precious Blood of Christ.
I am very excited about this conference, but also nervous. It is difficult for proud men (such as myself) to completely humble themselves before our holy God. Not that we don’t have the desire, but so often our fists are clenched around our sin and we need God to pry them off. I am going to spend the coming weeks not only preparing to speak, but humbling my heart to listen to the Spirit of God as He shows me the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ and by doing so reveals the revolting sin that keeps me from seeing and savoring Jesus Christ.
Northwest buds,
I would bring a contengent of your Southwest buds…..but I’ve promised my wife and congregation I will stay put this year, with the exception of my Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia Missions trip in March. Just got back from a great trip in India. Praise the Lord…..great things he’s doing there. I will miss Shepherds Conf because of the Asia trip. I will be at TG4 in April of 09. But that and a board meeting or two is all I can do this year. This last year …. my travel was nuts. This last year I travel. This next year I sit! PTL! I say all of that not to impress you but to simply emphasize that I really want to come and enjoy you guys. I want to get to know you better and we’ve heard great things about the “content” and “feel” of your fellowship up their amongst the Mountain Goats, Deer and of course the North plains bears you have up there. I understand you have a bearded snow plow driver by the name of “Guss.” There is a similar guy near Dumbar Wisconsin. I understand he and his cousins plow all the snow in the Mountain regions. I have to meet this guy!
Keep me on the mailing list and perhaps I can swing a trip up with you guys in 2010.
Straight Ahead bro’s!
